Campaign Insights

What the numbers tell us. And what they don't.

Good advertising starts with a plan. Who are you trying to reach? Where should you spend your advertising budget? And how do you know whether your advertising is working?

At Studio B, we create the advertising, develop the media strategy, buy the placements and track how campaigns perform. We use what we learn to make better decisions about where to advertise, what messages to run and how to spend the budget.

Here are two examples of our work, along with some of the insights we've gained along the way.

Merced Honda

Reaching local car buyers across TV and social media

Merced Honda wanted to build awareness in its market and encourage prospective customers to explore vehicle offers and dealership services.

Our approach

We developed campaigns using Hulu and Disney+ to build awareness, alongside Facebook and Instagram advertising designed to generate interest in vehicles, drive traffic to the dealership's website and collect customer inquiries.

We managed media buying, audience targeting, campaign delivery, creative testing and performance reporting.

What the campaigns taught us

Bilingual advertising can be more cost-efficient.

In one campaign, an ad combining Spanish and English cost 58% less per thousand people reached than the English-only version. Testing different messages helped us identify a more economical way to reach the audience.

Streaming TV can reach local audiences without a huge budget.

With a $2,500 monthly media budget, the streaming TV campaign reached an estimated 16,000 to 19,000 people per month, with an average frequency of approximately four exposures. We monitored delivery to make sure the purchased impressions were delivered.

A lead form is an inquiry, not a sale.

During April and May 2026, Facebook and Instagram reported 83 completed contact forms at an average media cost of $17.04 each. Those submissions gave the dealership opportunities to connect with prospective customers. They were not verified vehicle sales, and the advertising reports did not establish how many resulted in purchases.

Finding the right audience for five different shows

Promoting a live performance requires more than putting an announcement in front of as many people as possible. Each production appeals to a different audience, and those audiences don't necessarily respond to the same advertising.

Our approach

We developed and managed campaigns for five productions, including TINA: The Tina Turner Musical, STOMP and DOG MAN: The Musical.

We used Facebook and Instagram advertising to direct potential ticket buyers to the venue's ticketing website and streaming TV to build awareness throughout the East Bay.

What the campaigns taught us

Different shows need different advertising strategies.

Engagement varied considerably across the five productions. We tailored the campaigns to each show's audience rather than using one advertising approach for every production.

Facebook and Instagram don't always perform equally.

For TINA, Facebook generated clicks at a lower cost than Instagram. Most of the people responding on both platforms were 55 or older. Knowing where an audience responds helps us make better media buying decisions.

Streaming TV prices vary considerably.

During the TINA campaign, Paramount+ placements cost $9.89 per thousand impressions, compared with $35.03 on Hulu and Disney+. Comparing placements helps us evaluate where advertising dollars may work hardest, taking into account both cost and audience.

Website clicks don't tell the whole story.

Across five productions, Facebook and Instagram reported approximately 79,200 clicks to the ticketing website. Those clicks showed that people interacted with the advertising, but they didn't tell us how many tickets were purchased. Ticket sales require separate tracking.

A few things experience has taught us

The lowest price isn't always the best media buy.

Cost matters, but so do audience targeting, placement, geographic coverage and campaign objectives. We look beyond the price of an impression or click to evaluate what an advertising placement is delivering.

Your audience may surprise you.

Different messages, languages, platforms and creative approaches can produce very different responses. Testing helps replace assumptions with information.

A local campaign should have a local strategy.

Not every business needs to advertise across an entire metropolitan area. We consider where your customers live, where your business operates and which media options provide the most useful geographic targeting.

A click isn't a customer. And not all traffic is real.

Clicks and website visits can be useful indicators of advertising activity, but they don't necessarily represent potential customers. Some website traffic comes from bots rather than real people, and even legitimate visitors don't always become customers.

That's why we believe in looking beyond traffic totals, distinguishing ad platform reports from website analytics, and evaluating actual customer inquiries and sales whenever that information is available.

The next campaign should benefit from the last one.

We look at what worked, what didn't and what deserves another test. Media strategy isn't just about placing advertising. It's about learning where and how to spend the next dollar more effectively.

Clear reporting. No inflated promises.

We believe businesses deserve to understand where their advertising budget went and what it delivered.

Our reports explain where ads ran, who they were intended to reach, how people engaged, what the placements cost and what we learned.

We also make an important distinction between advertising activity and business results.

An impression isn't a website visit. A click isn't necessarily a real person. And a lead isn't a sale.

When website analytics and sales data are available, we can use them to develop a more complete picture of campaign performance, including evaluating bot traffic and other activity that may inflate reported website visits.

We won't claim that advertising generated sales when the available data doesn't establish that connection.

Our goal is to help you make smarter advertising decisions based on what the numbers actually show.

Campaign figures are based on advertising platform reports for Merced Honda (November 2025 to September 2026) and the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts (October 2025 to January 2026). Reported impressions, reach, clicks and contact-form submissions are not independently verified sales or customer counts. Results vary by market, campaign, creative and budget.
